Dear academics,
Carlo Gardini, husband of our dear colleague Donatella, passed away in March 2024.
I wanted to say a few words in memory of Carlo, since many of us have
well known at various symposia and even better on our memorable trip to Tuscany.
Carlo, after a brilliant career in several Italian banks, was in charge of finance for Donatella’s various companies, as well as for the three stores Donatella and Carlo created, “Toscana lovers”.
Carlo died in an accident at their home in Malta.
I know that this sudden loss is a great sorrow for you and your loved ones, Donatella.
Please accept the sincere condolences of all the members of the Academy.
We wish you much courage as you pursue the path of noble wines in the company of your daughter Violante, who accompanies you and who, we all hope, will follow your example in the accomplishment of your work.
