Bruno-Eugène Borie was born in Ducru-Beaucaillou in the heart of the Médoc peninsula. In this rich natural environment, he developed a passion for agriculture, and particularly viticulture, from an early age. After studying economics, he began his professional career in 1981 with Peter Alan Sichel (wine merchant, co-owner of Château Palmer).
From 1985 onwards, Bruno-Eugène set himself the challenge of revitalizing Lillet, Bordeaux's aperitif. He improved quality with more fruit, freshness and clarity, then implemented an effective marketing strategy in France and abroad. In 2008, in order to concentrate fully on Ducru-Beaucaillou, he proudly handed it over to the Ricard Group. In 2003, at the family's request, he took over the reins of Ducru-Beaucaillou, Grand Cru Classé in 1855, a prestigious family estate in Saint-Julien, founded in 1720.
Surrounded by a close-knit, competent team, he constantly strives to improve quality, combining tradition and innovation with unconditional respect for the ecosystem. These efforts have been rewarded by the recognition of the greatest critics, confirming Ducru-Beaucaillou as one of the Médoc's super nuggets. With an eye to the future, Bruno-Eugène and his team have enthusiastically launched an ambitious investment plan, including the construction of a new 8,000 m² gravity-fed winery, a vast vineyard replanting program and an agroforestry and sustainable development project for the entire Beaucaillou estate.
At over 300 years of age, Ducru-Beaucaillou looks forward to a captivating future where every experience opens up new and exciting perspectives and unique emotions.
On a personal level, Bruno-Eugène is married to Frédérique and has a son, Louis Eugène. A member of the AIV and the Académie des Vins de France, he was President of the Conseil des Crus Classés de 1855 from 1997 to 1999.
