Claude Bourguignon

Claude Bourguignon, soil microbiologist, born December 20, 1951.

After a bachelor's and master's degree in biology at the University of Paris, Claude joined INAPG for his agricultural engineering diploma. He completed his doctoral thesis at INRA Dijon on biological nitrogen fixation. After developing a soil biological activity measurement in 1980, he left INRA in 1989 to found LAMS with his wife.

Since then, they have carried out physical, chemical and biological analyses of over 10,000 soils worldwide. The statistical study of this data enabled them to define a theory on the notion of terroir. Since 2012, they have been applying our theory by creating their Domaine Laroque d'Antan in Cahors, where they produce a white wine Néphèle and a red wine Nigrine in varietal complantation. In 2016, the French Minister of Agriculture awarded them the insignia of Officers of Agricultural Merit.

In addition to their scientific articles, they have published 2 books: "Le sol la terre et les champs"; "Manifeste pour une agriculture durable". Both translated into Italian.

    L.A.M.S. has carried out over 8,000 physical, chemical and biological analyses of existing soils around the world to develop technical itineraries for replanting wine estates and analyses to discover new terroirs.

Philosophy

With these analyses, Lams tries to advise and help winegrowers to implement organic and biodynamic viticulture.
These physical, chemical and biological studies give us a better understanding of our “terroir”, enabling us to adapt our management accordingly.
They also enable us to monitor both the evolution of wine-growing soils and the geo-sensory tasting of the wines produced from them.
