Alois Clemens Lageder
Clemens Lageder is Managing Director of the Alois Lageder family winery in South Tyrol, Italy. Representing the sixth generation of the winegrowing family, he continues a winemaking tradition dating back to 1823.
Born in Bolzano in 1987, Clemens initially explored fields outside viticulture. He studied sociology and business management, then turned to oenology, taking courses at the University of Geisenheim in Germany and the University of Dijon in France.
After a decade spent abroad, Clemens returned to the family estate to take over management from his father, Alois. His return marks a continuation of the family's commitment to sustainable and innovative viticultural practices.
Under Clemens' leadership, the Alois Lageder estate continues to promote biodynamic agriculture, a holistic approach to viticulture that views the vineyard as a living organism. This method aims to enhance the health of soil and vines, producing wines that faithfully reflect their terroir.
The estate grows a variety of grape varieties, including Pinot Grigio, Chardonnay, Müller Thurgau, Gewürztraminer, Sauvignon Blanc, Schiava, Lagrein, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Pinot Noir. This diversity allows us to take advantage of the region's varied microclimates, offering a range of expressive and unique wines.
Clemens Lageder embodies a new generation of winemakers, combining respect for family traditions with the adoption of modern, sustainable viticultural practices. His leadership ensures that the Alois Lageder estate continues to prosper while making a positive contribution to the evolution of contemporary viticulture.
