Felipe de Solminihac
Felipe is Chilean. He holds a degree in Agronomy and Oenology from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, as well as a diploma in Oenology and Vine Sciences from the Faculté d'Œnologie de Bordeaux.
He is a partner and Managing Director of Viña Aquitania SA. with his French friends Bruno Prats, Paul Pontallier and Ghislain de Montgolfier.
Felipe produces wines in Valle del Maipo Alto and Valle del Malleco, Traiguén. For the production of SOLdeSOL Chardonnay wine, he applied for and obtained the DO for the Valle del Malleco region and the Traiguén area in 2002.
Felipe was Professor of Viticulture at PUC's Faculty of Agronomy and Forest Engineering between 1977 and 2022.
He was President of the Association des Ingénieurs Agronomes et Œnologues from 1980 to 1986, President of the Confrérie du Mérite Vitivinicole from 2002 to 2010 and current Honorary President. Founding member of the Chilean Academy of Agronomic Sciences.
He is currently consultant oenologist at several Chilean wineries and director of Viña Terra Noble.
He has received numerous distinctions during his professional life, including: Chilean Wine Merit Award 1993; Prix au Travail Syndical 2014 from the College of Agricultural Engineers of Chile. Honorary member of the Académie Internationale du Vin (AIV) based in Geneva, Switzerland. Named Chevalier de l'Ordre du Mérite Agricole in France in 2015, and also receives the award from English journalist and MW Tim Atkin as WINEMAKING LEGEND of CHILE 2021.
