Jean-Philippe Delmas

For a century, the Delmas family has been closely linked to Château Haut-Brion, and Jean Philippe Delmas, under the guidance of the Dillon family, represents the^3rd generation of winemakers.

In 1923, the first milestone was reached: Georges Delmas (grandfather of Jean-Philippe Delmas) became steward of the estate.

In 1935, two major milestones in the history of Haut-Brion were reached:

The arrival of the Dillon family on the property, with Clarence Dillon's acquisition of Château Haut-Brion, and the birth of Jean-Bernard Delmas, the second generation, on the Haut-Brion estate.

With the confidence of Clarence Dillon's children, Dorothy and Clarence Douglas, Jean-Bernard Delmas took over from his father with the 1961 vintage, his soul imbued with this premier grand cru where he grew up.

Under the presidency of Clarence Douglas Dillon's daughter Joan, Duchesse de Mouchy, Jean-Bernard Delmas will produce some forty vintages.

After studying oenology in Bordeaux, his son Jean-Philippe Delmas began working on the estate in 1994, drawing on his experience in different wine-growing regions of the world.

In 2001, he was appointed Deputy COO, overseeing Châteaux Haut-Brion and La Mission Haut-Brion (acquired in 1983).

In 2004, after 10 years of passing on his passion and knowledge, Jean-Philippe Delmas took over from his father as Managing Director, when HRH Prince Robert of Luxembourg, son of the Duchess of Mouchy, became President of the family-owned Domaine Clarence Dillon in 2008.

In 2011, Jean-Philippe Delmas was appointed Managing Director of Domaine Clarence Dillon and the new subsidiary Quintus s.a.s (Saint-Emilion vineyard acquired the same year).

Jean-Philippe Delmas has also been a member of the Académie Internationale du Vin since 2000, and his other responsibilities include :

- Vice-President of the Syndicat Viticole de Pessac-Léognan from March 2005 to March 2020.

- Presidency of the Union des Crus Classés de Graves from March 2009 to March 2012, of which he remains Vice-Chairman.
