Jean-Pierre Chevallier
Born in Saumur in 1958, Jean-Pierre obtained his agricultural technician's certificate, the national diploma in oenology in Bordeaux and then the university diploma in scientific and technological studies of vines and wine.
He is a director of the departmental vine and wine extension group and founding Chairman of the Val de Loire regional station of the Institut Technique du Vin.
Jean-Pierre began his career with an internship at the Laurent Perrier champagne production site in 1979, then went on to monitor vinification in the Costières de Nîmes region at the SOVILI laboratory in Générac in 1981.
In 1982, he took over the management of the family estate, and 1 year later he stopped using weed-killers, grassed the vineyard and started working the soil.
In 2009, the vineyard was converted to organic farming, and in 2016 a new cellar was built for vinification and ageing.
His philosophy: work the vines to produce the finest grapes of the vintage, while respecting the terroir.
To vinify Cabernet Franc and Chenin grapes in a way that respects the purity of the fruit, without technological artifice. As in fine cuisine, the product for the product.
Be curious and attentive to developments in the profession.
