Dr. José Vouillamoz is one of the world's leading experts in DNA testing for grape variety origin and parentage.
A Swiss geneticist of international renown, trained by Professor Carole Meredith at the University of California at Davis (USA), he is the co-author with Masters of Wine Jancis Robinson and Julia Harding of Wine Grapes (Allen Lane, 2012), the world reference on all grape varieties grown around the globe.
In 2017, he published the reference work " Cépages Suisses - Histoires et Origines ", available in French, German and English. Dr Vouillamoz is also author and co-author of several scientific articles and books on grape varieties, such as theOxford Companion to Wine and theWorld Wine Atlas.
Dr Vouillamoz is an independent expert, author, teacher, consultant and lecturer. He is a member of theAcadémie Internationale du Vin, theAcadémie du Vin de Bordeaux (the only Swiss member), the Mémoire des Vins Suisses and the Circle of Wine Writers.
Since 2019, he has been deputy director of DIVO, Switzerland's largest and oldest wine club.
