Juancho Asenjo
With university studies in Hispanic philosophy, Juancho is a broadcaster in the world of wine in all its forms: teacher, consultant, wine merchant and writer. Italian, French, Spanish, South African and New Zealand wine trainer and wine marketing analyst.
He advises several Spanish wineries on marketing, innovation and the creation of new wines (Marqués de Riscal, Alvear, Roda, Toro Albalá, Osborne, Península Viticultores, Cillar de Silos and others).
Juancho frequently gives training courses to the technical teams of wineries, their sales teams and their customers, as well as to companies and importers of foreign wines in Spain (Italy, France and the New World), notably with the tasting director of Grandes Pagos de España.
He was Technical Director of Vinoble, the most important fortified and liqueur wine fair in Jerez in 2020, 2022 and 2024, taking part in tastings at previous editions.
A lecturer on various sommelier courses throughout Spain over the past 35 years, both on the old and new worlds, he has created hundreds of wine lists throughout Spain and trained sommeliers.
Juancho has been a member of El Mundovino since it was founded in 1999, and has written for Spanish, Italian, Puerto Rican and Mexican wine magazines, as well as several books and collective works.
He has received national collective awards such as the National Gastronomy Prize for his work at El Mundovino and Metrópoli, and international awards such as the Giornalista del Roero prize, the Grandi Cru Italia prize for best foreign journalist, and the decoration of Cavaliere dell'Ordine Della Stella Della Soliedarità Italiana by the President of the Republic Giorgio Napolitano for his work in spreading Italian culture throughout the world.
