Peter Sisseck
Peter was born in 1962 in Copenhagen, Denmark. He grew up in a family with a solid background in viticulture. His uncle, Peter Vinding-Diers, was a well-known winemaker, which influenced his early interest in viticulture and oenology. He received formal training in agriculture and oenology in Bordeaux, France, and Copenhagen.
Peter Sisseck began his career working in various Bordeaux vineyards. His early experience included working at Château Rahoul and Château Landiras, where he honed his skills in traditional French winemaking techniques.
In the early 1990s, Sisseck moved to the Ribera del Duero region of Spain, where he took up a position at Hacienda Monasterio. During his time there, he discovered old, neglected vineyards with enormous potential. This discovery led him to set up his own winery, Dominio de Pingus, in 1995, with an approach to viticulture and winemaking emphasizing low yields, biodynamic practices and minimal intervention.
Beyond Pingus, Peter Sisseck has been involved in several other wine projects. He created PSI, a more affordable wine aimed at preserving the old vineyards of Ribera del Duero and promoting sustainable agricultural practices. In addition, Sisseck is co-owner of Château Rocheyron in Saint Emilion and Bodegas y Vinedos San Francisco Javier in Jerez, Spain, dedicated to the production of Finos.
