Reinhard Löwenstein
Reinhard Löwenstein studied agronomy at the University of Giessen. In 1980, he and his wife Cornelia Heymann founded the Heymann-Löwenstein estate in Winningen, on the Terrassenmosel. His family has been making wine here since 1520.
Reinhard Löwenstein aims to offer a sensory experience of the different slate formations, which he calls "The sound of slate". In 1991, he became involved in the creation of a movement for a new identity for the "Terrassenmosel". In 1996, he launched a "vine peach renaissance" project. In 2007, he took part in the twinning of Israeli and German "Twin-wineries". In 2013, he joined the "Fair and Green" sustainability movement.
Reinhard Löwenstein was vice-president of the Verband Deutscher Prädikatsweingüter (VDP) until 2022. He is also the author of the "Oenological Manifesto" (FAZ, 2003) and the book "Terroir" (Kosmos, 2009).
