Born in Hungary, Robert took part in the fighting against Soviet troops in Budapest at the age of 18, and had to leave his native country.
He completed his secondary education in Austria, followed by university studies in Switzerland.
In Geneva, he founded the Institut de Recherches de Communication and collaborated with Jean Trémolière, Jacques Puisais and Jean Cazeneuve on the study of the ancestral symbolic meaning of vines and wine.
From 1980, he worked in the Far East. In Hong Kong, he organized the International Symposium on the Harmonization of French Wines and Chinese Cuisine (1981).
In 1984, together with Henri Gault and Paul Bocuse, he organized the First World Gastronomy Summit in Bangkok.
In 1996, he returned to Hungary and published some thirty books on gastronomy and wine.
He organized two IYV Spring Symposiums in Hungary (1997 and 2014).
