Willi Brundlmayer

Willi was born in 1952 on the family vineyard in Langenlois, 70 km from Vienna (Austria).

In 1980, he took over the management of the winery after studying viticulture and political economy (degree from the University of Vienna). In the same year, he married his partner Edwige, originally from Paris, who worked with him to develop the winery.

Since then, Weingut Bründlmayer has won numerous national and international awards. Jancis Robinson writes in the Financial Times "Since 1980 this talented winemaker has transformed 125 acres of terrraces, set above the Danube in Langenlois, into a beacon for Austrian wine". Gault Millau Austria awarded him the "Lifetime Achievement Award" in 1919.

Willi is, among other things, co-founder and first president of the "Österreichische Traditionsweingüter" (Austrian traditional estates). Weingut Bründlmayer is certified organic, sustainable and ISO 22000.

Over the last few decades, AIV has visited Langenlois several times for spring and autumn symposia.
