Yannis Voyatzis

Born in August 1956 in Velvento - Kozani, Yannis studied chemistry at the University of Thessalonica and oenology at the Institute of Oenology of the University of Bordeaux. After completing his studies, he returned to Greece with a doctorate in oenology and viticulture, as well as significant experience in winemaking.

Since 1984, he has worked at Boutari Wineries S.A., a 140-year-old company. He began as head oenologist, responsible for vineyards and grape supply, winemaking and research and development. Since 2016, he has become the company's CEO.

He is also involved in the small family business, "Domaine Voyatzis" in Velvento - Kozani, where he has replanted his family's old vineyard.

Yannis Voyatzis is a member of the International Wine Academy, a member of the board of directors and for several years president of the Association of Wine Producers of Northern Greece, the Greek National Interprofessional Organization, and is now beginning his second two-year term as president of the Hellenic Wine Federation.

Boutaris is considered "The School", having been the starting point for many renowned oenologists and winemakers. His contribution to Greek wine is also marked by his active involvement in industry organizations over many years.

Dr. Yannis Voyatzis is widely regarded by the industry as a leading expert in knowledge and experience, a personality with an indelible imprint on the renaissance of Greek wine over the last 35 years.
