The trip to Sicily, with Taormina as our base, offering spectacular views of Mount Etna, was simply breathtaking.

Members visited wineries in the south-east of the island, including Feudi dei Pisciotto, where Greek and Roman remains added to the unique atmosphere, and Planeta, for a tasting of wines from different regions of the island.

A fascinating day was spent exploring the slopes of Mount Etna, with visits to the Scammacca del Murgo, Barone di Villagrande and Graci wineries.

Although Sicilian wines are not yet well represented on international markets, their potential, particularly from Etna, to produce world-class wines is undeniable.
