Members of the Académie Internationale du Vin travelled to the Willamette Valley, in the heart of Oregon, for a study trip dedicated to discovery, dialogue and winemaking excellence.
In recent decades, the Willamette Valley has established itself as one of America’s leading wine regions, particularly for Pinot Noir, thanks to its cool climate, varied volcanic soils and a new generation of passionate winemakers.
On the program:
- Private visits to emblematic estates such as Domaine Drouhin Oregon, Bergström Wines, Jackson Family Wines, Ponzi and Lingua Franca, where members were able to talk to committed producers, discover innovative viticultural practices and taste emblematic cuvées.
- Moments of collective reflection on the challenges of climate change, changing consumer tastes and the growing role of American wines on the international scene.
This trip gave the AIV a better understanding of the dynamics of a vineyard on the rise, between a strong European tradition and an assertive North American identity.
